How to organize AI prompts

If your best prompts are buried in chat threads, screenshots, random docs, and bookmarks, the fix is not “write better prompts.” The fix is building a reusable prompt system.

Step 1: group by workflow, not by model

Organize prompts into categories like code review, incident analysis, content outlining, image direction, and research synthesis. That structure maps to work people actually repeat.

Step 2: keep version history

Do not overwrite the prompt every time you improve it. Create a new version, describe what changed, and keep the old result for comparison.

Step 3: keep outputs close to prompts

This is especially important for image generation and long-form writing. Good prompt management is not just storage. It is memory.
